Myths about teenage pregnancy
There is an opinion among teenagers, that they surely know how they can protect themselves from undesirable pregnancy. Many teenagers think that they know how to protect themselves from pregnancy. Still these methods usually appear to be myths. There are several of them, listed below:
• The first myth is about the sexual experience of teenagers. Many young people tell lies or exaggerate saying that they have had sex. Only about 48 percent of high school students have had sexual intercourse, according to the scientific data.
• The second delusion of young people lies in the conviction that they cannot get pregnant the first time they have sex. Indeed, they can.
• Some teenagers think that it is impossible to get pregnant during menstruation. The ovulation of the girl having sex during her period can occur a couple of days later, while inside vagina sperm can stay alive for about seven days. So, it means that you can get pregnant during menstruation also.
• One of the most terrifying opinion of today’s youngsters is that they can reuse condoms and this will work. Of course, this will not help them protect themselves from pregnancy and, what is more, this is completely unsanitary!
• The most absurd thing about methods of contraception used by teenagers is about Mountain Dew. Some guys think that it lowers the count of their sperm and the girl cannot get pregnant. In truth, no amount of any soda can lower the count of sperm.
